Na Fianna are one of the biggest Trad acts that has come out of the south-east to go on to bigger, brighter things.

After representing the East in The All Ireland Talent Show, Na Fianna are keeping a cool head under the new publicity they’ve been attracting.

The band started gigging in Kilkenny in 2006 and have become a household name around the town ever since. Often playing in Lanigans bar, the band put on a great show for lovers of Irish music.

The four members are John and Damien Walsh from Ballinakill in Laois, Lee Campion from Durrow in Laois and Ross Hennessy from Loughboy in Kilkenny.

Band member, John Walsh, speaks about their recent successes and what they hope to eventually achieve. He mentioned the band’s up-coming appearances in Kilkenny and Ballinakill.

“Obviously we dream of being a successful Irish band creating a name for ourselves throughout the country by playing bigger gigs but we’re taking everything one step at a time and are keeping our feet on the ground.

The band has being doing a lot of charity events and has also been touring schools bringing music to the community. “We’ve done a couple of charity nights for breast cancer including one a few months ago in Ballinakill which got a great turn out. We’ve also had a great time over the last few weeks in the schools with the kids, ” John continued.

For your chance to see the band perform live, head down to Lanigan’s every Thursday night at 9pm.
